Off the Grid Weekend: Impasug-ong Communal Ranch

"Nature's not a place to visit. It is home."

Family decided to go off the grid. My mom's 2 months stay here in the Philippines is almost up that's why we booked a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of life, in Impasug-ong Communal Ranch.

Going there was rough. You need to ride a 4x4 truck to get there, almost 2 kilometers from the high way.

Our ever reliable ride

Impasug-ong communal ranch is the only government owned communal ranch in the entire Philippines, covering a total of 642 hectares. Again, 642 hectares of pure green mountains and ridges. You have to book your stay at the Municipal Tourism Office for 2,000 a night.

The House.

Unfortunately, we were not the only ones there. Another group of people were there first and they got the bigger house of course. It seemed like the tourism office overlooked either our booking or theirs. But since they got there first, they got to select which house to stay.

We just decided to camp outside and have our tents set up there. And it was way much better than sleeping in the house.

If you decide to stay here, be very ready to live off the grid. No water, no light, no current, no bedding's.

Horseback riding all day

There will be cowboys to accompany you if you plan to stay overnight plus an unlimited horse ride. Just give them tips for that.

Kids can't get enough. They said they wanted to bring home their Horsey.

The lagoon.

Beautiful painting

The ranch, by the way, is famous for prenup shooting. And the movie "Love me Again" by Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin was shot here.

It was almost dark, and so we prepared for dinner. We brought along cooked food to free us from the hustle of cooking. But there is a dirty kitchen outside the house that you can use for cooking and grilling. Just don't forget to bring along your own firewood and charcoal for grilling.

Kids hotdog and s'mores time

You need heat here. It's freakin cold.

Lucky us it's full moon.

The following day, we decided to trek the mountain ridges nearby. Even our kids did it. So, if you come here, do not miss this.

Overlooking The House

Kids at the top

We were about to go home but our kids were nowhere to be found. We saw them at the other side, in the little mountain with their horses. The guide told us that the view there was magnificent. And so off we go.
At the top of the mountain overlooking the river

There he goes again

Ahhhhh-mazing beauty

Ohhhh..The River!

Well, that sums up our off the grid weekend experience. No cellphones, no tablets, no laptops, no facebook and other social media, no work..... just us and the beautiful mountain ridges surrounding us. Is it worth it? Definitely. Will I come back again? Definitely. And next time, I'm gonna go down the river and have a splash.

Thank you Jesus for this gift. The gift to see and experience your magnificent creation with my family. Cheers to more adventure in my hometown, Bukidnon. Experience it for yourself.
